It has been a CRAZY week since the story ran last Sunday on NBC Nightly News! We have received so many wonderful messages from people asking how they can donate or help. We also received lots of requests for care packages to be sent to kids who have cancer. This is something we were planning to start this year, but we have scrambled this week to put together a care package to send out immediately. Here's a picture of what we have come up with... bows, ballcaps, a couple of games, gum/mints, hand sanitizer, chapstick and a Beanie Boo. We also have talked about adding cozy blankets or socks, jewelry and scarves for girls (not sure what to send for boys so we can use some ideas!). We are super excited about starting the care packages, but we really need help with donations to answer all of these requests. We've received so many messages from people asking how to help. Our biggest need right now is either money or items to help us roll out the care package program. I still can't believe all of the wonderful emails and also the sweet messages and the requests for care packages that we have received. I can't believe my little idea has already grown so big. I just want to use this to reach more kids with cancer. Thanks again to everyone for all of your love and support. XOXO Hannah

Here's the story on my charity that ran on NBC Nightly News tonight!! So cool!! I can't believe all the feedback we're getting from the story. I promise.... I will answer all of you. It just might take me a little time. Spring break ends today, so it's back to school tomorrow morning:) Thank you ALL for your love and support. I'm just so excited!! Love, Hannah Today was such an awesome day for BOWS & BALLCAPS!! I was waiting to post about it because I just couldn't believe it was really going to happen. But today, it happened!!! NBC Nightly News came to Hendersonville, TN to do a story on me and my charity. Ms. Kim and Mr. Michael were awesome!! They spent the morning at my house interviewing me, my family and my friends. Then, they went with me to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where we dropped off our latest delivery of bows and ballcaps. I got to visit with Mrs. Stephanie and also meet one of the Child Life Specialists, Katie, who actually gives out the bows and ballcaps to the kids. It was a really, really, really awesome day!! The story will run on the NBC Nightly News Weekend Edition with Lester Holt, and might even run this coming weekend. I will let you know the exact date soon. Please watch!! And thank you all for your continued love and support. Love, Hannah Check it out!! My story made the cover of the Hendersonville Star News/Gallatin News Examiner this morning... I'm so excited! If you don't live in Hendersonville or Gallatin, you can see the story online at the link listed below. A huge THANK YOU to the reporter, Ms. Yankova, for spending so much time with me and helping me share my story. http://www.tennessean.com/viewart/20140312/GALLATIN01/303120072/Hendersonville-fifth-grader-gives-back-through-charity Yesterday was the day... the day of the HAIRCUT!!!! We all met yesterday afternoon at Miracles Salon in Hendersonville. Ms. Jennifer Briscoe was the awesome lady from Miracles that did the cut. Well, they actually let ME cut the ponytails... I was really nervous, but it was so much fun. I am so grateful that Dr. Linn was willing to cut her hair and donate it to Locks of Love. She cut 14"... WOW! If you don't know what a 14" ponytail looks like, take a look at the pictures of me holding them. And I am also so grateful to Dr. Linn for raising over $1,000 for BOWS & BALLCAPS. That will help us buy so many bows and ballcaps for kids who have lost their hair from cancer treatments or alopecia. It was an awesome day!! Thanks to everyone who contributed to THE HAIRCUT!!! And an extra special THANK YOU to Dr. Linn!!! Love, Hannah
Remember my post about THE HAIRCUT last week? A friend of BOWS & BALLCAPS is donating her hair to Locks of Love on our behalf. And the amount of money raised determines how much she cuts... up to 12 inches... and the money goes to BOWS & BALLCAP(see my earlier post for more details). THE HAIRCUT is this coming Friday, and we are so close to our goal!!!!!!!!!! yay. So far, we have raised $900... that's 9 inches. Please help us make our goal. Only 5 days left. I am so happy for all of the progress we have made. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful donations so far!!! _Hannah- I have exciting news!! Yesterday I got interviewed by a very nice reporter about BOWS & BALLCAPS. She spent 3 hours at school with me!! . At first I was nervous, but by the end, I was actually having a lot of fun. She took pictures of me eating lunch with my friends, in my classes and practicing for our 5th grade Romeo & Juliet play which is next week. She also asked me lots of questions and even made some videos for the website. I can't wait to see it!! It is supposed to run in the Hendersonville Star News and the Gallatin News Examiner on Wednesday, March 5th. So if you live here, be sure and check it out. And if you don't live here, maybe you can see it on their websites. I'll post the links. This was definitely a first!!
