A REUNION WITH JESSICA!!

Last week, I went to a tennis camp at JP2 High School. I had so much fun!  But while I was at tennis camp, I saw the unexpected. You may not remember the girl my age, Jessica, who I've blogged about before that has been going through cancer.  I met her at this same camp a few years ago.  Since then, she has been fighting brain cancer.  I am happy to say she is done with cancer, radiation treatments, and chemotherapy. I was so excited to see her, and can’t wait to see her again very soon. She has such a great attitude knowing what might happen.  I love her, and know that God has made her strong enough to stand up to it.  Jessica has proved that if she can overcome cancer, she can overcome anything.  It was so great to see her again.  And it reminded me of all of the kids like Jessica out there who we are trying to help with BOWS & BALLCAPS.

A SPECIAL SUNDAY!

This was a very special weekend.  On Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day in a very special way.  My Dad baptized me and my sister at church.  All of the my aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins were there along with some of my very special friends.  We also had a family reunion for the entire Grubbs family over the weekend to celebrate our baptism.  Some of it was emotional, but most of it was lots of fun.  And I feel like all we did was eat for two days (even though the food was scrumptious)!!  I was so happy that my sister and I "said yes to Jesus" together.  It was one of the best celebrations ever!!!

MEETING AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST

Last week, I did a swim camp with part of my swim team at Western Kentucky University.  It was such fun... and one of the days, we got to meet Claire Donahue.  She is a graduate of WKU, and she won a gold medal in swimming at the 2012 Olympics in London..  We actually got to hold and wear her gold medal... I had no idea that Olympic medals are so heavy... it weighed like 20 pounds!!!  She told everyone she would autograph things for them.  I had her sign my swim bag, my water bottle, and my purse. While she was signing my things, I was thinking that even though it would be odd, maybe she could sign my head. She said, "Well, this is the first time anyone has asked me to sign their head!"  Just another perk of being bald.  Mom said she was glad I also had her sign some things that were a little more lasting.

On Friday, we visited East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.... our second BOWS & BALLCAPS hospital..  We met three wonderful ladies... Ms. Cheryl, Ms. Tamara, and Ms. Alexis.  They were so sweet and showed us around the hospital and told us about the different ways they help the kids that come there.  We even met Mr. Paul, a regular volunteer there, who sang some songs to us.  We were so excited to learn more about the kids there and see how our donations of bows and ballcaps can help.  I love the quote they have on the wall, "Live life in the fullest and make a difference along the way."  I hope that's what we are doing with B&B.  It was a great day!  Thanks for all of your support.

Love, Hannah
